I saw this film last night at a blind screening at our local theater complex
I probably wouldn’t have chosen to see it if I had known what it was, but I’m grateful that I did. Its strengths are the touching, honest portrayals of some of the participants in the program it portrays (notably Clarence Maclin and Sean Johnson) and the work of Colman Domingo.
The cinematography and direction add sincerity to the performances without overwhelming them and by using an approach that makes the viewer feel like they are witnessing conversations and events rather than consuming them
Thought-provoking. Understated.
